"...The worst thing that hapened at the illustrious Wal Mart
was last year. I use an electric scooter as I use a
wheelchair 95% of the time. My scooter. I went into Wal
Mart and was merrily riding up the aisle becoming aware
of some kind of commotion about me. Finally, I heard the
woman yell stop stop. I thought I had run over Santa
Claus! I said," what is the matter?" You have merchandise
in your basket. I said I did not and she insisted on seeing
what was in my basket on the scooter. She said you have
an undershirt in there. I said I didn't and wasn't that silly
if I was goingto steal something I would not be going into
the store. She made me take the things out of my basket
with a small crowd watching me and when she saw I only
had homemade bags for shopping she turned me loose.
She couldn't have embarrassed me more if she had strip
searched me in front of all those people. NO APOLOGY I
had a little shopping to do and I could see people
following me and hear funny things over the intercom and
was aware of people watching so not being guilty and
being wrongly accused and very embarrassed
I turned my wheelchair around and with a red face and
tears starting I left the store. I found out later that the
week before they had done that same thing to another
woman but she called the T V Station. I'll go to Target or
K Mart first to do my shopping. I do not like that kind of
attention from anyone. Thanks for listening Rose"
