"Subject: Walmart Falsely Advertises!
Last year, during Christmas, Walmart sent out a sales ad in the local newspaper. My sister-in-law wanted a set of headphones that was advertised in the ad as being "reduced." My husband and I took her to get it. When we got there, we found the shelf where the headphones HAD been with a sign still there saying, "SALE," but there were no headphones. I asked the young fellow who was working in that department if there were anymore in the store. He said, "no." I then proceeded to ask him for a rain check. He said, "you'll have to get that at the front desk." (I had the Walmart ad with me). We then proceeded to the front desk and asked the lady working the desk for a rain check, explaining that the headphones in their ad were sold out. She stated, "I'm, sorry, but it's not our policy to issue rain checks." I asked to see the manager. Some goofey lookin' SOB came to the desk claiming he was the store manager and asked if he could help me. I said, "yes, I'd like a rain check for these headphones." He told me the same thing, "it's not out policy to give out rain checks." I had the ad in my hands and proceeded to point out to him that Walmart was falsely advertising that they DO, in fact, give rain checks for anything advertised in a sales ad that is "sold out." He began to get angry and stated the second time, "We do NOT give out rain checks." I proceeded to turn over the Walmart ad and read the fine print to him, which stated that they DO give rain checks. (By this time, we had a crowd forming because people coming and leaving the store could hear the conversation.) His face became very red. He then told me he did not need my "attitude," and asked me to leave the store. I gladly left and am happy to say I will never return. As we were leaving the store, the so called manager asked the young lady behind me (who heard the entire conversation) if he could help her, and she said, "yes, I'm here to cash in this rain check." You know what they say..."word of mouth is the BEST advertisement." :)" |
