"I walked into Wal-Mart the Friday after September 11, 2001. As I walked into the store located at Alton Gloor in Brownsville, Texas I noticed that there were
streamers (red white and green in color) lining the entrance. I thought maybe it had to do with their restaurant that had just opened up. Perhaps they were
selling pizza or something (red white and green always reminds me of Italy). As I walked through the main entrance I saw a very large flag of Mexico
displayed. There is no way you could miss seeing this flag. I stopped and looked around for an American flag. I finally found one over the door. It was so
small. I walked over to customer service and asked to speak with a manager. Over thirty minutes later a manager had not arrived, and I left. I called the
1-800- number for Wal-Mart. It took 16 phone calls to get a reaction. I was told the flag was there for Cinco De Mayo. The translation is May 5th. I was
then told that it was National Mexican Heritage month. Which it was not. I already knew why the flag was there. The next Sunday MEXICO would celebrate
its independence day. They got it right the third guess they made. I explained that last I saw their store was located in America and that I did not have a
problem with the Mexican flag, but that I wanted an American flag next to the Mexican Flag, and they needed to be the same size. THE MAIN OFFICE OF
WAL-MART REFUSED STATING THAT THEY DID NOT WANT TO OFFEND THEIR MEXICAN CUSTOMERS. I ASKED IF THEY INTENDED TO
OFFEND THE AMERICAN CUSTOMERS INSTEAD! ALL I ASKED WAS THAT AN AMERICAN FLAG BE PLACED NEXT TO IT! That night we drove
by and looked though the windows and found the Mexican flag no longer hung in the entrance. They had taken a flag and drilled a hole through it attaching
it to the side of their store. I cried. My husband said he agreed with me, however he says that what he fought for was the freedom to fly any flag you want
over your house, or business weather he liked it or not. I say it was disrespectful to those who had just died in 9/11. Remember that Friday was a National
Day of Mourning. Wal-Mart called a few days later and asked if that had made me happy. I told them no. The flag was now attached to the building
meaning it would be there day and night, yet they did not have it illuminated at night. The flag did not appear to be an inclimate weather flag, and the stars
were on the wrong side. We are not talking about a hastily erected flag in the heat of battle, we are talking about a store that did not care. That flag
represents the struggle and fight to become the greatest Nation in the world. Men, Women and Children have died so that we can have freedom, and
Wal-Mart worries about the Opinion of its Mexican Customers! I hope they decide to move all of their stores to their favourite country Mexico! They began
store in Germany, and Mexico, maybe now they will leave America for good. They must not be proud to be here.
Today my tire went flat in the Wal-mart parking lot. I drove over to their garage area and asked them to repair it. Two hours later I was told that who ever
removed my lug nuts last had stripped one of them. I asked for the manager and told him that the lug nuts were fine before they touched them. The
manager said that it was my problem now and refused to fix the problem or pay another business to fix it. I asked for another manager and was reused
one. I finally left. I asked if they would put air in my tire so I could make it to another store (my six year old son was with me.) The automotive manager
refused. I promise you that was my last trip to that place!"
